Adult Olympic Marmot (Marmota olympus). More than 90 percent of this species population lives within the boundaries of Washington's Olympic Naional Park. Its population is in decline in some areas of the park. It is believed to be due to the encroachment of trees into the meadows where they live and predation by coyotes, both situations possibly related to global warming.
