The road built to service a now abandoned medical evacuation hovercraft terminal has provided the residents of King Cove illegal ATV access to the Izembek wilderness where the landscape is permanently scarred by their tracks. If a road is built through the refuge their is little to stop deeper ATV incursions throughout the wilderness.
